Sheavy - The Golden Age Of Daredevils

This one came out in 2010, just before Disfigurine. I just want to throw my opinion in that this was an easy one to over look with all the great music that came out in 2010 and, it is worth checking out again.

The Golden Age of Daredevils/Disfigurine - Present

In April 2009, original guitarist Dan Moore resigned from the band and announced his decision to the band's Facebook fan group - both via email. The band enlisted guitarist Chris White on guitar and premiered the new guitarist and new material at local St. John's venue distortion in October 2009. Recording began on a forthcoming album, Disfigurine, roughly around the same period. Prior to its completion, though, the band took up the RPM challenge, which invites musicians to record a whole album of music, 10 songs or 35 minutes. The end result was released late May 2010, entitled 'The Golden Age of Daredevils.' 'Disfigurine' was released in late August 2010.

Though they continue to write, Sheavy have been otherwise inactive throughout 2011 and 2012, as Steve struggles with vocal problems and members depart. Both bassist Keith Foley and guitarist Chris White parted ways with the band in the spring of 2012.

John Prine - lake Marie

Of all the songs I have heard over the years all the countless  talented and talent less poets this single song seems to pop out more than others. I first found out about John Prine when I was around 19 years old. By that time John was already an old man and had written many of his classics that have become radio favorites, this album was already 5 years old. This song in particular got my attention on the "Live from Sessions at West 54th" dvd that came out in 2001. There is a desperation in his voice like he is reliving this weekend every time he sings this song.


Yea yea, not stoner or doom. Fuck you.

New Re-Stoned

I have posted about a few albums buy these guys.

The Re-Stoned is a return to the music I've always listened to and loved to play. Despite the band is not traditionallyfronted by a lead singer and follows the completely instrumental path, they are arguably the most welcomed and popular live act among the Russian classic rock revivalists. 

Black pyramid - Adversarial

After the crazy ass guitar player split from the bad last year,  I had feared the worst for this band.  After listening to the newest album,  I am quite amazed.  The boys ate back on top again!  The music is fucking amazing.

First release is a limited 7” with our song Personal Riot and a Tin House cover Be Good And Be Kind. Released late May, 500 copies.
The 2nd album is titled "Behind the Mountains" and is due for release on June 17th.

New Volbeat

The new Volbeat has HIT THE NET. It's different from the rest of their stuff and that is good because this album rocks in it's own way. Just in case you don't know who volbeat are:

Volbeat was formed in October 2001 by Michael Poulsen, who had previously split up the Danish metal band Dominus. Dominus was said to be Denmark's pride of metal. During their 10 years of existence Michael Poulsen and Dominus released 4 albums and had their videos shown on both MTV, VIVA. (for further information: www.diehardmusic.com). Volbeat's musical style is said to be a combination of Metallic Rock'n'roll with a touch of the sixties melodic tunes. As a Swedish Reporter from Slavestate Magazine wrote: Metallica should have hired Volbeat as songwriters for their "Load" and "Re-Load" albums. Others have said: This is Elvis-metal.

Listen to the new Ghost album

Thanks Bill over at Thesodashop.us For pointing out the new Ghost album is available to stream HERE. I was listening to it for the first time this morning and wasn't all that impressed. It could be the fact that the first album was so damn good or maybe the fact that it sounds more like demented circus music than Satan worshiping stoner doom. The bottom line here is that none of these tracks jumped out at me like Elisabeth or Ritual from the first album. I guess I will have to give it another couple listens to get the full effect. Please leave a comment to tell me what you think.

Volbeat – Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies (2013)

NEW VOLBEAT! If you don't know these guys by now, climb out of your cave once in a while.

Volbeat is a heavy metal band from Denmark, founded in 2001. They released their first album, The Strength/The Sound/The Songs, in 2005 and the follow up, Rock the Rebel/Metal the Devil, was released in Denmark on February 19, 2007, and in the rest of Europe on February 26, 2007. In March 2007, it topped the Danish album chart as the best selling album, the first metal album ever to do so.
